Jimmy Butler has reportedly informed the Golden State Warriors that he has no intention of signing a contract extension with the team, effectively halting ongoing trade discussions between the Warriors and Miami Heat, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

Talks surrounding a potential trade for Butler initially began back in December, when he reportedly listed the Warriors, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks as preferred destinations.

However, recent reports suggest the player may now be particularly interested in joining the Suns, though the franchise currently lacks a feasible way to secure the All-Star forward.

As it stands, Butler remains suspended by the Heat until at least the trade deadline, with Miami becoming increasingly eager to move him. Despite this urgency, it remains unclear whether they will find a suitable trade partner.

Butler holds a $52.4 million player option for the 2025-26 season, a key factor that may influence teams’ willingness to negotiate for him.
