Brunson moved past Carmelo Anthony for third place on the Knicks’ all-time list with his 18th career 40-point game for the franchise. He also recorded his 12th game with at least 30 points and 10 assists, surpassing Hall of Famer Richie Guerin for the most in team history.
New York trailed by 11 points entering the fourth quarter before outscoring Houston 46-29 in the final frame. Brunson fueled the comeback with 17 points in the fourth, sealing the win with a late layup and a three-pointer in the final minutes.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges each contributed 22 points, while Josh Hart added 19. The Knicks played without OG Anunoby, who missed his first game of the season due to a sprained right foot.
Amen Thompson had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists for Houston, securing his third career triple-double. Cam Whitmore provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, while Jalen Green finished with 21.
The Rockets struggled defensively without All-Star center Alperen Sengun, as they lacked a player taller than 6-foot-8 in the lineup.
