Luka Doncic is targeting a return to action on February 8 after recovering from a calf strain, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

The injury, which occurred on Christmas Day, initially led to the expectation that Doncic would be re-evaluated after a month of recovery. Despite the setback, the star guard has been working towards regaining full fitness.

However, the Mavericks’ frustration with Doncic’s conditioning played a significant role in their decision to explore trade options. This concern about his physical readiness, alongside other factors, contributed to the team’s consideration of moving him.

Despite these trade discussions, Doncic, who did not ask for a trade, was reportedly left stunned and caught off guard by the deal when it finally materialized.
