The Houston Rockets have made it clear they’re not actively pursuing a major in-season trade, according to Tim Bontemps. The team prefers to assess how its current roster performs in the postseason before making any drastic moves.

Despite being in a strong position to consolidate assets for a star player, Houston is optimistic about the long-term development of second-year wing Amen Thompson, as noted by Brian Windhorst.

The franchise believes Thompson could evolve into a player of that caliber. His performance as a full-time starter across 12 January games has been impressive, with averages of 18.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game, along with a highly efficient 55.7% shooting from the field.

This deliberate approach suggests that the Rockets are focused on cultivating their young talent rather than making reactionary trades. By nurturing players like Thompson, the organization aims to build a sustainable and competitive roster for future success.
