Real Madrid has bolstered its roster by signing Bruno Fernando to a deal that runs through the end of the 2025-26 season. This marks the Angolan center’s first stint in the EuroLeague after six years in the NBA.

Fernando, 26, joins Los Blancos following a brief tenure with the Toronto Raptors, where he averaged 3.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 17 appearances this season. Over his NBA career, Fernando has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and Raptors, accumulating 226 games.

At 6’9″, Fernando brings a physical presence to Real Madrid’s frontcourt. Known for his defensive versatility and rebounding, he complements a strong group of big men that includes Walter Tavares, a three-time EuroLeague Best Defender, and Serge Ibaka, who won an NBA championship in 2019.

Fernando’s international experience adds further value. He shined at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists over four games, showcasing his ability to perform on a global stage.

Real Madrid is currently sixth in the EuroLeague standings with a 13-10 record. The team has gained momentum after a slow start, winning seven of its last ten games. Fernando becomes Madrid’s second key addition in recent weeks, following the signing of former NBA guard Dennis Smith Jr. on January 16.
