LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, have declined an invitation to participate in the Skills Challenge during this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend, sources tell NBA insider Chris Haynes.
This would have marked the first time in NBA history that a father-son duo took part in the competition, but both LeBron, 40, and Bronny, 20, chose not to pursue the opportunity.
LeBron, who is set to appear in his 21st consecutive All-Star Game, is having another stellar season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The four-time NBA champion is averaging 23.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 9 assists per game in 34.9 minutes.
Meanwhile, Bronny James, a rookie with the Lakers, has made appearances in 11 games this season. He is currently averaging 0.4 points per game in 2.3 minutes of action.
The decision comes as a surprise to many, as the potential for a historic father-son moment was a major talking point for fans.
