Bobby Marks, ESPN’s front office insider and former Brooklyn Nets assistant general manager, has encouraged NBA teams to inquire about acquiring Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green. Speaking on Kevin O’Connor’s Yahoo Sports podcast, Marks discussed the potential of trading Green as the Warriors navigate a challenging season.

Marks acknowledged that trading Stephen Curry is highly unlikely but emphasized the possibility of moving Green. “Why not? Why not?” Marks said during the podcast, per Gabe Lehman of San Francisco Chronicle. “If you smell blood in the water … I would pick up the phone and be like, ‘Hey, with you guys where you are, we’ll give you two guys and a first [for Green]. Get that money off your books, clean slate, you know. Would you want to do something like that?’”

At 34, Green is in the second year of a four-year, $100 million contract and is averaging 8.4 points, 6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 27.8 minutes per game. His leadership and defensive prowess have been vital to Golden State’s success during their dynasty years, but the team’s current situation has sparked speculation about a potential trade.

The Warriors hold a 21-21 record, placing them 11th in the Western Conference, and their playoff hopes remain uncertain. Moving Green would symbolize the end of Golden State’s championship-winning core trio, as Klay Thompson departed for the Dallas Mavericks during the offseason.

O’Connor echoed Marks’ sentiment, suggesting Green could command multiple draft picks, potentially first-round selections. O’Connor also cited lingering tension from Green’s 2022 altercation with then-teammate Jordan Poole, stating, “He punched away their future.”

Trading Green could offer financial flexibility and a fresh direction for Golden State, but his value to the team extends beyond statistics. Known for his basketball IQ, defensive versatility, and vocal leadership, Green has been a cornerstone of the Warriors’ success, winning four NBA championships alongside Curry and Thompson.
