Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick expressed his admiration for his team’s performance following their decisive 111-88 victory over the Washington Wizards.
After the game, Redick reflected on the Lakers’ strong showing and the team’s overall progress this season. “Yeah, I think we’re still searching for more consistency night-to-night. I really love our group,” Redick said, as reported by Ryan Ward. He went on to highlight how effective the team can be when they are in sync, stating, “We’re a really good team when we do that.”
“Bad teams, they reject their roles. Good teams, accept their roles. Great teams, embrace their roles, and we’re trending in that direction,” Reddick added.
The win pushed the Lakers’ record to 23-18, as they continue to stay competitive in the Western Conference. The Wizards, on the other hand, suffered their 11th consecutive loss, dropping to 6-36 on the season. Los Angeles dominated from start to finish, never trailing after the opening minutes.
Anthony Davis led the charge for the Lakers, contributing a game-high 29 points and 16 rebounds. LeBron James added to the Lakers’ dominance with his 121st career triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Austin Reaves and Dorian Finney-Smith both contributed 16 points, with Finney-Smith hitting four three-pointers to help space the floor for the Lakers’ offense. The Lakers were in control throughout the game, showcasing strong defense and consistent shooting.
Defensively, Davis continued to be a force, registering four blocks while making his presence felt in the paint. The Lakers also benefitted from solid bench performances, including eight points from Jaxson Hayes and a strong defensive effort from Max Christie, who added five rebounds and three blocks.
For the Wizards, Bilal Coulibaly led the team with 17 points and six rebounds, marking his highest-scoring game in January. Jordan Poole and Corey Kispert chipped in 15 points each, while Kyle Kuzma posted 12 points and nine rebounds in his return to Los Angeles. Despite the individual efforts, the Wizards struggled with their shooting, hitting just 35.8% from the field and 25.6% from beyond the arc.
The Lakers’ defense smothered the Wizards’ offense, making it difficult for Washington to find rhythm. Los Angeles went into halftime with a comfortable lead and never allowed the Wizards to threaten in the second half.
In the final minutes of the game, Bronny James made a brief appearance, but the outcome was already decided. The Lakers’ reserves ensured that the game was out of reach, helping secure another dominant win.
With Redick continuing to emphasize team chemistry and execution, the Lakers are showing signs of becoming a more cohesive unit as the season progresses. If they can maintain consistency, the Purple and Gold could be poised for another deep playoff run.
