Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller, who missed Friday’s game against the Chicago Bulls due to a right wrist sprain, has been diagnosed with a torn scapholunate ligament after an MRI, the team announced.
They have ruled him out indefinitely but did not provide a recovery timeline. This injury typically requires surgery and an extended recovery period, often lasting months.
Miller, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, was enjoying a strong sophomore season, averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
His injury is especially unfortunate as the Hornets had just gotten their top four scorers – Miller, LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Mark Williams – healthy together for the first time this season.
Nick Smith Jr. started in Miller’s place on Friday, scoring 15 points in 26 minutes, and is likely to continue in that role.
Seth Curry, who had also started in Miller’s absence earlier, returned to the rotation and is expected to play a larger role moving forward.
