Paul George recently addressed the possibility of earning a spot in the Hall of Fame, sharing a laid-back outlook on the matter. Speaking on Podcast P, the 34-year-old forward, currently in his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers, emphasized that he isn’t obsessed with the idea of making it to the Hall of Fame.
“I don’t know. I think I’m good with or without,” George said, via ClutchPoints, acknowledging that while making the Hall of Fame would be an honor, he’s content with his career regardless of the outcome.
George, who has been an impactful player throughout his career, added, “Obviously, you want the work and the longevity part of it to withstand the test of time and be able to be a part of that Hall of Fame.” However, his approach to the matter is relaxed. “If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t,” he explained.
For the six-time All-Star, the legacy of his playing style holds more value than any accolades. “I think I had a generation of kids that enjoyed the way I played the game,” George continued. “My prime years, how I played the game, how I impacted the game, and that’s enough for me man.”
Despite his modest outlook, George’s contributions to the sport are undeniable. The 34-year-old forward has been a key figure for every team he’s played for, including the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers. His unique mix of scoring, playmaking, and defense has made him one of the most respected players of his generation.
This season, George is averaging 16.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game in 32.3 minutes. While these numbers are solid, George’s season has been overshadowed by the struggles of the 76ers. With Joel Embiid battling injuries, the Sixers have a 15-22 record and currently sit 11th in the Eastern Conference.
Despite the team’s challenges, George’s focus remains on giving back to the next generation of basketball players. “I’m going to continue to share and give back to the next generation of kids,” he said.
The new generation of players, such as Charlotte Hornets’ young star Brandon Miller consider George their GOAT.
