The Memphis Grizzlies and the Brooklyn Nets had been in serious talks regarding a potential trade for Dorian Finney-Smith.
However, in a surprising turn of events, the Nets opted to trade Finney-Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving Memphis feeling disappointed and somewhat betrayed by Brooklyn’s last-minute change of heart.
This unexpected move sparked some tension between the two franchises.
Once the dust settled on that situation, both teams attempted to mend fences by engaging in discussions about another player, Cam Johnson, possibly moving to Memphis.
Despite these conversations, there hasn’t been any concrete agreement or advancement in the trade talks for Johnson.
The Nets seem to be taking their time, evaluating all possible offers for Johnson, with the NBA trade deadline on February 6 looming as the final opportunity to make a move.
Cam Johnson, meanwhile, has been demonstrating his value on the court this season for Brooklyn. Despite being currently out with an ankle sprain, his performance before the injury was remarkable.
He’s been averaging a career-high 19.5 points per game, showcasing his shooting efficiency with a 50% field goal percentage, a 44% three-point shooting rate, and a 90% success rate from the free-throw line.
His contribution extends beyond scoring, with an average of 4.3 rebounds and a career-best 3.0 assists per game, making him a versatile and valuable asset on the court.
