The Golden State Warriors, currently 10th in the Western Conference with an 18-18 record, are reportedly prioritizing a big man over acquiring Jimmy Butler. Despite speculation linking the Warriors to the Miami Heat star, NBA insider Marc J. Spears reveals that Golden State is focused on filling a different need.
Spears noted that the Warriors are one of the most undersized teams in the league, and their main goal is to add a bigger player to complement Draymond Green. “I’m hearing that the Warriors literally want to go bigger than Jimmy Butler—they’re trying to get a big,” Spears said.
While Butler’s request for a trade has made him a sought-after asset, the Warriors’ priorities are shifting toward strengthening their frontcourt. The team is looking for a player who can help bolster their size and defense.
Earlier reports suggested that Golden State has shown interest in Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic. The Montenegrin, who is expected to be traded before the February 6 deadline, could provide the Warriors with much-needed size and rebounding.
Adding a big man would address some of Golden State’s most glaring weaknesses this season. While they have a wealth of perimeter talent, their size has often been a disadvantage in the paint.
