The Detroit Pistons have signed Ron Harper Jr. to a two-way contract, as first reported by NBA insider Michael Scotto. Harper, the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, recently showcased his talent during the G League Showcase, earning this opportunity.
Harper, 24, brings versatility and a high basketball IQ to the Pistons’ roster. The 6’6” forward has played 10 games this season for the Maine Celtics in the G League, where he averaged 10.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game.
After going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, Harper initially signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. He made his NBA debut against the Atlanta Hawks and spent two seasons with the Raptors organization, signing another two-way deal in 2023 before being waived in December of that year.
Harper’s journey continued when he joined the Boston Celtics for the 2024 NBA Summer League. Despite signing with Boston in July, he was waived in October but subsequently joined their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.
