De’Aaron Fox has not actively requested a trade from the Sacramento Kings, sources have confirmed to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

However, several rival teams around the league are preparing for the possibility that Fox could become available shortly.

Currently, the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers are emerging as the leading teams frequently discussed as potential landing spots for the talented point guard, should the Kings decide to part ways with him.

Despite the growing speculation, insiders suggest that it is more likely Fox will remain with the Kings until the offseason rather than be moved before the February 6th trade deadline.

Sources within the league have indicated a “strong belief” that Fox is not expected to be available for trade during the current season but that the possibility of a summer trade is more likely.

In the meantime, the Kings have made it clear that they are not entertaining trade inquiries about the player and are committed to building a competitive team around him, to further their playoff aspirations.

The Spurs, in particular, have been described as the team where the “noise is the loudest” in terms of their pursuit of Fox, with discussions surrounding the potential fit between him and the young, developing Spurs roster intensifying.

In addition to the Spurs, other teams like the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets have also been mentioned as possible suitors for Fox, should he become available.

These teams are reportedly intrigued by his combination of scoring ability, playmaking, and defensive potential.

The guard, who is represented by high-profile agent Rich Paul, remains under contract with the Kings and cannot become a free agent until 2026, making him a player with long-term value.

His performance on the court this season has been outstanding. Fox is averaging 26.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game, playing an impressive 37.2 minutes per contest over 34 games.

In addition to his accolades, Fox was named an NBA All-Star in 2023 and earned a spot on the All-NBA Third Team, solidifying his place as one of the premier point guards in the league.

Given his age, skill set, and contract situation, Sacramento’s star is seen as a highly valuable asset who could greatly benefit any team looking for an explosive, playmaking lead guard.

While the Kings are currently focused on their efforts to improve the roster around him, the growing buzz surrounding Fox suggests that his future in Sacramento could be uncertain, depending on how the season unfolds and whether other teams continue to show strong interest in acquiring him.
