The Phoenix Suns are grappling with a tough stretch, having dropped three consecutive games. This skid has pushed them below a .500 win percentage for the season, leaving them on the outside of the Western Conference postseason picture.
Understandably, the situation has left many of the team’s leaders feeling frustrated.
Phoenix head coach Mike Budenholzer acknowledged the palpable tension, attributing it to the high standards held by his players.
“We have guys that have won at a high level, that have high expectations,” Budenholzer noted. “We gotta find ways to get better, so these are not easy times. But our guys will find a way through it, and we’ll find a way through it together.”
Adding to the Suns’ challenges, Bradley Beal sustained another injury, further compounding the team’s frustrations. Devin Booker expressed a sense of urgency and determination in light of the mounting losses.
“Frustration level’s high. We’re all competitors in here, and we realize these games are gonna cost us in the end of the season,” Booker admitted. “We wanna gain some ground, get up out of the play-in position and just win every possible game.”
Amid adversity, the Suns are striving to recalibrate and reignite their season, fueled by the collective resolve of their players and leadership.
Kevin Durant, reflecting on his performance and that of the team, emphasized the need for improvement.
“I feel like I can do so much out there, I just feel like I gotta be better. And I feel like every player in the locker room got that same mentality,” Durant explained. “So, we all look in the mirror, we’ll be a better team.”
