The Minnesota Timberwolves narrowly defeated the San Antonio Spurs 112-110 on Sunday night, extending their winning streak to three games. Donte DiVincenzo led Minnesota with 26 points, hitting 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Rudy Gobert contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds, anchoring the Timberwolves in the paint. Julius Randle added 16 points, while Jaden McDaniels secured a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Victor Wembanyama spearheaded the Spurs’ offense with 34 points, showcasing his full scoring arsenal. The French center hit four three-pointers and added eight rebounds in a standout performance. Harrison Barnes chipped in 24 points, while Devin Vassell scored 22 for San Antonio.

The Timberwolves faced a tough shooting night from three-point range, converting just 11-of-44 attempts. Anthony Edwards, recently fined $100,000 for profanity during media comments, struggled offensively, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-20 shooting.

The game’s pivotal moment came with 4:44 left in the fourth quarter. Randle’s driving layup against Wembanyama, initially ruled an offensive foul, was overturned following a coach’s challenge by Chris Finch. The basket gave Minnesota a lead they would not relinquish.

Minnesota relied on DiVincenzo’s clutch shooting down the stretch, including a critical free throw with 12.1 seconds remaining. San Antonio had a chance to steal the win, but Jeremy Sochan missed a wide-open three-pointer at the buzzer.

Despite Wembanyama’s brilliance, the Spurs struggled collectively from deep, shooting 28.2% on three-point attempts. Chris Paul orchestrated the offense with 14 assists but went scoreless from the field.

Minnesota’s defense stepped up when it mattered most, limiting San Antonio’s scoring opportunities in crunch time. Gobert and McDaniels provided crucial stops to secure the victory.

The Timberwolves improved to 17-14 with the win, while the Spurs fell to 16-16.
