LeBron James delivered a dominant 32-point performance to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 103-99 victory over the Sacramento Kings, marking their third win against the division rivals this season. The victory also completed a two-game sweep for the Purple and Gold at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers (16-12) secured the win in dramatic fashion. After Anthony Davis missed two crucial free throws with 12 seconds left, the Kings had a chance to tie the game. However, Sacramento failed to secure the rebound, and Austin Reaves was fouled on a subsequent play. Reaves sank both free throws to seal the game.
Reaves added 16 points and played a pivotal role in the final moments, while Davis contributed 10 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks.
De’Aaron Fox led the Kings (13-16) with 31 points and seven assists. Domantas Sabonis posted a double-double with 19 points and 19 rebounds, while DeMar DeRozan chipped in 12 points. Despite their efforts, the Kings fell short in a game that featured numerous turnovers and missed opportunities.
The first quarter saw both teams struggle to take care of the ball, with Los Angeles committing 10 turnovers and Sacramento adding four of their own in the opening minutes. However, the Lakers cleaned up their play, committing just four turnovers over the final three quarters.
Three-point shooting was another factor, with both teams struggling from beyond the arc. The Lakers shot 25.7% (9-of-35) from deep, while the Kings managed a slightly better 27% (10-of-37). James and Reaves combined for just 2-of-15 shooting from three-point range but compensated with strong finishes at the rim.
Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell provided crucial support for the Lakers. Russell scored 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including three three-pointers, while Hachimura added nine points and 11 rebounds.
The Kings, on the other hand, have now lost four of their last five games. While Fox and Sabonis continue to perform at a high level, Sacramento’s inability to execute in crunch time has become a recurring theme.
