New York Knicks wing Mikal Bridges achieved his 500th consecutive game appearance in Sunday’s 100-91 win over the Magic, a streak that began in his rookie season with the Phoenix Suns.

This accomplishment stands out in the current NBA, where maintaining a full 82-game season has become increasingly rare due to load management.

Bridges, however, is still far from breaking the record of 1,192 consecutive games held by A.C. Green, a mark that is considered more unbreakable in today’s era.

The forward credits his durability to his mother and his Villanova coach, Jay Wright, despite facing some challenges along the way.

“One where I was in Phoenix, where I hyperextended my knee,” Bridges explained. “We were going to San Antonio, I was real nervous. It was painful. … Then when I was in Brooklyn, I did something to my wrist.

“I thought I broke my hand. I couldn’t sleep at night. It was bad. And then when I woke up, it was just my wrist.”

Bridges has spent 7 seasons with the Suns, Nets, and Knicks, averaging 14.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists across 500 regular-season games.
