The Golden State Warriors recently acquired Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets, but the trade could have been much larger.

NBA insider Marc Stein revealed in his Substack that the Warriors were also exploring a potential deal that would have included both Schroder and Cam Johnson from the Nets.

However, to make the deal work, the Warriors would have likely had to part ways with Jonathan Kuminga, according to sources.

The potential trade involving both Johnson and Schroder was reportedly under consideration by the Warriors, but Kuminga’s inclusion would have been a key factor.

Kuminga, the Warriors’ promising young forward, is highly regarded for his athleticism and defensive potential. His name has come up in various trade talks as Golden State continues to adjust its roster to compete for another championship.

The Warriors ultimately chose to move forward with the acquisition of Schroder, who offers valuable veteran leadership and a solid offensive presence.
