The Phoenix Suns secured a 116-109 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night, extending Portland’s losing streak to six games. Devin Booker paced the Suns with 28 points, shooting 7-of-14 from the field and converting 10-of-12 free throws.
Kevin Durant contributed 20 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for Phoenix, while Tyus Jones added an efficient 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Royce O’Neale, starting in place of the injured Bradley Beal, chipped in 13 points. Jusuf Nurkic anchored the Suns’ interior with a double-double, tallying 10 points and 14 rebounds.
For the Trail Blazers, Anfernee Simons led with 20 points, supported by Jerami Grant and Deni Avdija, who each scored 17. Rookie center Donovan Clingan, starting in place of an ill Deandre Ayton, added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Portland struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 15 of their 49 attempts (30.6%). Simons and Grant combined for eight 3-pointers, but the team’s inefficiency proved costly. In contrast, Phoenix shot 15-of-39 (38.5%) from deep, with Booker and Allen making four each.
The Suns’ depth played a significant role, with 11 of the 12 active players scoring. Allen led the bench unit with 12 points, while Monte Morris and Ryan Dunn each added valuable contributions.
For Portland, Robert Williams III returned from a concussion, scoring eight points in 17 minutes. Coach Chauncey Billups noted that Williams will remain on a minutes restriction for now.
Phoenix improved to 14-11 on the season and is now 13-2 when Durant plays. Conversely, the Trail Blazers fell to 8-18 and continue to struggle with injuries and inconsistency. Ayton’s absence due to illness, combined with poor shooting, left Portland unable to capitalize on their third-quarter surge.
The Suns, who made 22 3-pointers in their previous win against Utah, have now won three of their last four games. With Bradley Beal sidelined due to knee swelling, Phoenix continues to rely on their star duo of Booker and Durant, supported by a balanced roster.
