The Miami Heat are open to trade discussions involving star forward Jimmy Butler and will consider a deal if a strong offer arises, reports Shams Charania of ESPN.

After Miami’s 2024 playoff exit, Butler reportedly sought a max-salary extension, but team president Pat Riley expressed reservations due to Butler’s injury history, emphasizing the importance of consistent availability.

In response, the player chose to delay extension talks and remain with the Heat rather than push for a trade.

While he maintains a strong bond with the team, Miami’s middling performance and Butler’s looming free agency have prompted the front office to explore trade options.

Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, has indicated that he would consider teams like the Rockets, Mavericks, or Warriors, prioritizing championship contention.

The veteran also plans to decline his $52.4M player option for 2025/26, but his current team would have the best chance to re-sign him due to Bird rights.

Despite missing five games, Butler has been productive this season, averaging 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on efficient shooting (.557/.360/.787) across 17 games, with Miami going 10-7 in those contests.
