The Utah Jazz have adjusted their approach to how they utilize power forward Lauri Markkanen, notes Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune.
Earlier in the season, Markkanen was frequently employed as a screener, initiating his offense from the elbow after drawing a defensive switch.
However, opposing teams began countering this strategy by sending double teams his way, which often forced him to give up the ball.
In response, the Jazz have shifted to using Markkanen in a more dynamic role. Instead of setting screens, he’s now moving off screens more frequently, catching the ball in motion, and making quick decisions upon receiving it.
This adjustment allows Markkanen to exploit defenses before they have a chance to trap him, maximizing his scoring opportunities and playmaking ability while keeping opponents off balance.
