Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox has weighed in on the ongoing debate over the greatest basketball player of all time, selecting LeBron James as his GOAT over Michael Jordan.
Fox, who is in the prime of his own career, shared his thoughts during a conversation with Cyro Asseo de Choch of HoopsHype.
When asked about his pick for the GOAT, Fox acknowledged Michael Jordan’s incredible career. “What MJ did in 15 years is crazy,” Fox said. “But what LeBron’s done in his career and is still doing is nuts.”
Fox went on to explain that, due to never having watched Jordan play live, he felt more connected to LeBron’s legacy.
“I would say Bron, I didn’t watch Michael Jordan play, so I’m not going to pick somebody I didn’t watch play,” Fox added.
LeBron James, who turns 39 next month, is currently in his 22nd season in the NBA. Despite his age, James continues to perform at a high level, averaging 23.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game in 35.4 minutes on the floor this season.
Fox’s endorsement of James as the GOAT highlights the current generation’s admiration for the four-time NBA champion.
With James still playing at an elite level, many players today, including Fox, view him as the top player in NBA history.
James has been a dominant force in the NBA for more than two decades, achieving remarkable consistency and breaking numerous records along the way.
While Michael Jordan’s six championships and perfect Finals record remain legendary, Fox’s perspective represents how LeBron’s sustained excellence has made him the player to beat for many of today’s stars.
