The New Orleans Pelicans’ season took another hit with news that guard Jose Alvarado is expected to be sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Alvarado’s absence adds to the growing list of sidelined Pelicans players, which already includes Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray, and Jordan Hawkins.

This injury blow hits as New Orleans battles a five-game losing streak, slipping to a 3-8 record and 14th place in the Western Conference.

Alvarado had emerged as a key contributor in recent games, providing offensive consistency and defensive energy. He has been averaging 15 points, five assists, and 1.7 steals per game in November while shooting an impressive 41.9 percent from beyond the arc.

His performances included back-to-back games last week where he scored over 20 points and notched five assists, showcasing his impact as a scorer and playmaker.

Alvarado’s injury complicates head coach Willie Green’s plans, who now faces even fewer options for the Pelicans’ struggling backcourt.

Known for his high-energy defense, Alvarado has consistently pressured opposing guards and created scoring opportunities for New Orleans.
