The Milwaukee Bucks are canvasing the NBA in search of a trade that will help jumpstart their slow start to the season, sources tell ESPN.
The Bucks have opened the season with a 2-6 record, with their only wins coming on opening night against a depleted Philadelphia 76ers team and later against the rebuilding Utah Jazz.
Their struggles have raised concerns within the organization, prompting an active search for options to revitalize their roster and quickly change their momentum.
Khris Middleton, a key player, has been sidelined as he recovers from multiple ankle surgeries in the offseason, limiting the team’s ability to fully compete and leaving a significant gap in their lineup.
Middleton’s absence has compounded the Bucks’ challenges as they navigate the season with limited offensive and defensive options.
The Bucks also face complex financial restrictions due to their position in the second salary cap apron, which prohibits them from combining player salaries in trades and restricts them from taking back more money in trades than they send out.
To make matters more difficult, Milwaukee has little future draft capital to leverage in deals, as they lack control over any of their next six first-round picks.
“The second apron coming in now really hamstrings them,” a rival general manager told ESPN. “They’re doing due diligence trying to find options, but of course they know it.”
The Bucks are working within these limitations to identify potential moves, but finding the right fit may be challenging given the league’s financial and trade rules.
