Dennis Schroder has openly expressed his desire to remain with the Brooklyn Nets for the long haul. He shared his feelings about the trade after a win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
When asked why he envisions a long-term future with the Nets, Schroder emphasized the team’s personal touch. “When I first got traded here, they texted my mom, texted my wife, sent them flowers,” he stated, via Erik Slater. This gesture made him feel valued and supported from day one.
Schroder noted that the camaraderie among his teammates also contributed to his comfort. “They made me feel comfortable,” he added. This supportive environment has been crucial for him as he adjusts to his new team.
The 31-year-old guard is currently having a solid start to the 2024-25 season. Over the first three games, he is averaging 16.5 points, 2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 33.5 minutes per game. His recent standout performance included 29 points and six assists in a victory over the Bucks.
Reflecting on his journey, Schroder acknowledged the business aspect of basketball. He understands that trades are part of the game, stating, “But it’s a business at the same time, and whenever a decision is made, I just go with it.”
Despite the uncertainties that come with the league, he remains optimistic. “I always remind myself that it’s the best league in the world,” he explained.
Schroder’s previous season saw him signing a two-year, $26 million contract with the Toronto Raptors on June 30, 2023. This marked his sixth team in ten seasons.
While he reflects on his past, Schroder remains focused on the present and future with the Nets. His experiences have shaped his outlook, making him appreciate the support he has received in Brooklyn.
