The Golden State Warriors began their season with an impressive 139-104 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Stephen Curry contributed 17 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, resting for the entire fourth quarter as his team dominated.
Buddy Hield emerged as a key player off the bench, scoring 22 points for the Warriors. Despite a promising start, Portland struggled to maintain momentum after leading by nine points in the opening quarter.
Golden State quickly recovered, leading 62-50 at halftime after a strong second quarter. Curry opened the second half with a three-pointer, and the Warriors extended their lead to as much as 37 points during the game.
Portland was led by Scoot Henderson, who finished with 22 points off the bench. Shaedon Sharpe did not play due to a shoulder injury, impacting the Trail Blazers’ depth.
The Warriors exhibited their depth, with Andrew Wiggins contributing 20 points and Trayce Jackson-Davis adding 14. The bench provided significant support, outscoring the Trail Blazers’ bench 58-31.
The Trail Blazers’ starters struggled to find consistency. Jerami Grant led the starters with 16 points, while Deandre Ayton added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Anfernee Simons and Deni Avdija both contributed 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
