Jalen Suggs and the Orlando Magic have finalized a five-year contract extension valued at $150.5 million.

This new agreement solidifies Suggs’ future with the Magic, further cementing his role as one of the key building blocks for the team’s future.

Suggs, a standout guard, was originally selected as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after an impressive college career at Gonzaga.

His development has been closely watched, and this extension puts him alongside other top young talents from his draft class, such as Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, and Scottie Barnes, who have all secured long-term deals with their respective teams.

This extension is part of a broader strategy by the Magic to build a strong core of young players, as they have also recently signed former No. 8 pick Franz Wagner to a long-term contract.

Magic officials, led by their front office, negotiated the terms of Suggs’ new deal with his representative, Darren Matsubara of Wasserman, in a series of meetings held in Orlando.

These talks were crucial in ensuring that both sides reached a mutually beneficial agreement that reflects Suggs’ growing importance to the team.

Last season, Suggs showed considerable progress, averaging 12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.

His impact extended beyond the offensive end, as his defensive contributions earned him a spot on the All-NBA Defensive Second Team, highlighting his potential to become one of the league’s top two-way players.

Suggs’ extension rewards his growth and positions him as a core piece of the Magic’s long-term plans as they continue to rebuild and aim for future playoff contention.
