Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers provided an update on Khris Middleton’s preseason availability, stating that the guard remains doubtful for the team’s remaining preseason games. Middleton, who has been recovering from offseason surgeries, has yet to make an appearance in any preseason matchups due to an ankle injury.

Middleton missed the Bucks’ first two preseason games against the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Lakers. According to Rivers, Middleton is unlikely to play in the October 14 contest against the Chicago Bulls, but there remains hope he could suit up for the final preseason game against the Dallas Mavericks on October 17.

Rivers stressed that Middleton’s recovery is progressing as expected, with no setbacks reported. However, with less than two weeks before the start of the regular season, Middleton’s absence has sparked concern about his availability for the Bucks’ October 23 opener against the Philadelphia 76ers.

“Probably not Chicago, so we’re hopeful of Dallas (Oct. 17) and if not, we’re not that concerned by it,” Rivers said, via Jim Owczarski of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He expressed optimism about Middleton’s readiness for the season opener, though he cautioned that the decision would ultimately depend on Middleton’s health. “I do [expect him to be ready], but I never say 100% to any of this because all of our guys have to feel right,” Rivers added.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Middleton’s preseason availability, the Bucks are focused on ensuring their star guard is fully fit for the regular season. Middleton has been a crucial part of Milwaukee’s success, and his health will be a key factor in the team’s aspirations for another deep playoff run.

Last season, Middleton averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game in 27 minutes of play.
