The Utah Jazz have officially waived guards Max Abmas, Taevion Kinsey, and Isaiah Wong, reducing their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Max Abmas, a 6-foot guard from Texas, had a standout collegiate career, spending four seasons at Oral Roberts from 2019 to 2023, where he became one of the top-scoring guards in the nation.

In his final season at Texas (2023-24), Abmas continued to make a significant impact, averaging 16.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds across 34 games.

His consistent performance earned him recognition on the All-Big 12 Second Team and the All-Big 12 Newcomer Team in 2023-24. Despite his college accolades, Abmas will now look for another opportunity in the NBA after being released by the Jazz.

Taevion Kinsey, a 6-foot-5 wing, was brought up from the G League’s Salt Lake City Stars on a 10-day contract with Utah last season. However, he didn’t see any playing time during his brief NBA stint.

In the G League, Kinsey proved to be a reliable contributor, playing 50 games for the Stars and averaging 10.8 points per game on an efficient 56% shooting from the field, including an impressive 43% from beyond the three-point line.

Despite his shooting and scoring abilities, Kinsey now faces the challenge of finding another NBA team to continue his career.

Isaiah Wong, a 6-foot-3 guard, spent last season on a two-way contract with the Indiana Pacers, though he saw limited action at the NBA level.

Most of his playing time came with the Pacers’ G League affiliate, the Indiana Mad Ants, where he averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

Despite his solid G League performances, Wong’s time with the Jazz has been cut short, and like Abmas and Kinsey, he will seek new opportunities in professional basketball moving forward.

These roster moves come as part of the Jazz’s efforts to refine their team ahead of the regular season, with each player now aiming to find a new opportunity to showcase their talents either in the NBA or elsewhere.
