Jonathan Kuminga is setting ambitious goals for himself as he approaches the upcoming season. The Warriors forward aims to achieve his first All-Star selection, a milestone he expressed during an interview with Marc Spears of Andscape.
“That is my trajectory. That is what I’ve been working towards,” Kuminga stated confidently. He elaborated on his preparation, saying, “I did as much as I could working out, getting my body ready, learning the game, working on things on defense. It’s just a matter of when we start playing now and I can show what I’ve been working on and how my game has grown.”
As he pursues this goal, Kuminga is also facing a critical deadline regarding his contract status with the Warriors. The Oct. 21 deadline for a rookie scale extension is approaching, and if he does not sign an extension, he will enter restricted free agency next summer.
“My agent is taking care of that,” Kuminga remarked regarding his contract situation. “I need to focus on what I’m trying to accomplish. The more I accomplish, the more things like that handle themselves,” he added, emphasizing his commitment to his performance on the court over contractual concerns.
With his sights set on making a significant impact this season, Kuminga’s dedication to improvement and focus on achieving individual success could play a pivotal role in the Warriors’ overall performance.
If he successfully showcases his growth and contributes meaningfully, he could solidify his status as a key player for the team and elevate his chances for an All-Star nod.
