Victor Wembanyama spent part of his offseason honing his ballhandling skills and offensive moves under the guidance of former NBA star Jamal Crawford, according to a report by Tom Orsborn.

The Spurs’ highly touted rookie believes this training will have a significant impact on his game this season.

“It was my first time working for a long period of time with an actual retired NBA player,” Wembanyama said.

“I learned a lot because the view he has of the game is different from a coach’s, because he understands the player maybe more than any coaches I have worked with before. It was a great experience. I would do it again.”

Working with Crawford, who was known for his elite ballhandling and scoring ability during his career, provided Wembanyama with a unique perspective.

The 7’4″ rookie is already highly skilled for his size, and adding this layer of finesse and ball control to his repertoire could make him an even more formidable presence on the court.

The experience was invaluable for Wembanyama, who appears eager to continue learning from retired NBA players to enhance his development.
