The Portland Trail Blazers have signed David Muoka to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to league sources. The signing, reported by Sean Highkin, is part of the team’s strategic move to secure Muoka’s G League rights for the upcoming season.

Despite the signing, Muoka will be immediately waived and will not participate in the Blazers’ training camp. This transaction allows Portland to retain his rights, setting the stage for the center to play with their G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix.

Muoka, who previously played for the Long Island Nets in the NBA G League, averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game last season.

The Exhibit 10 contract is designed for situations like Muoka’s. It allows a player to sign a one-year deal with the option for a bonus if they transition to the team’s G League affiliate after being waived. For Muoka, this agreement provides an opportunity to continue developing his skills with the Rip City Remix while staying within Portland’s system.

The Trail Blazers are currently undergoing a rebuilding phase, focusing on developing young talent. Muoka, known for his defensive capabilities and shot-blocking, fits into the team’s broader strategy of fostering player growth through the G League pipeline.
