The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to acquire three second-round picks along with Daquan Jeffries, Charlie Brown, and Duante Washington Jr. as part of a complex multi-team trade involving the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This deal is centered around the Timberwolves trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and a future first-round pick from the Detroit Pistons.

As part of the trade, the Knicks will send two second-round picks to the Hornets, while the Timberwolves will contribute one.

To help offset the salaries of the three players being sent to Charlotte, the Hornets will also receive $7.2 million in cash.

The combined salaries of Jeffries, Brown, and Washington Jr. for the 2024-25 season total $6.8 million, all part of sign-and-trade agreements.

The second and third years of their contracts are non-guaranteed, giving the Hornets flexibility in managing their roster moving forward.

In addition to the picks and players, the Hornets have agreed to trade the draft rights of James Nnaji to the Knicks.

Nnaji, the 31st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, played for Barcelona last season, where he averaged 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 7.2 minutes over 49 games.

The Knicks see potential in Nnaji, and his inclusion in the trade adds another promising young asset to New York’s growing pool of talent.
