Jayson Tatum had a monumental year in 2024, clinching his first NBA championship and earning a second Olympic gold medal.

Despite these achievements, some critics focus on Tatum not winning the Finals MVP, which was awarded to his teammate, Jaylen Brown.

Tatum addressed this criticism by stating, “Steph Curry got 4 rings and he only has 1. Isiah Thomas, Larry Bird didn’t win Finals MVP every time… I know that I’m gonna win Finals MVP one day.”

On November 4, 2023, Tatum made history by becoming the youngest Celtic to reach 10,000 career points, recording 32 points and 11 rebounds in a win over the Brooklyn Nets.

On January 25, 2024, he earned his fifth consecutive selection as an Eastern Conference starter for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

He also became one of only two players in Celtics history to record at least 25 40-point games, joining the legendary Larry Bird.

On March 9, Tatum and Brown combined for 56 points in a victory over the Phoenix Suns, with Tatum reaching 1,000 career three-pointers.

The Celtics concluded the regular season with the best record in the NBA, securing home-court advantage for the playoffs.

On July 1, 2024, he signed a five-year contract extension worth up to $314 million, making it the richest deal in NBA history.
