Real Madrid looked to the past to take a step forward in the future by signing swingman K.C. Rivers, who helped Los Blancos win the Turkish Airlines Euroleague last season.
On Tuesday, Rivers (1.96 meters, 28 years old) and Madrid agreed to reunite for the remainder of the season. Rivers arrives from FC Bayern Munich, where he averaged 10.8 points on 43.1% three-point shooting in 10 Euroleague games this season.
He boosted his numbers to 18.5 points on 9-of-11 three-point shooting in a pair of games against Madrid. Rivers helped Madrid win all available titles last season: Spanish SuperCup, Copa del Rey, Spanish League and its first Euroleague crown in 20 years. Rivers played a major role in key moments, scoring 17 points in the semifinal against Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul and 21 in Game 1 of the playoffs against Anadolu Efes Istanbul. Rivers averaged 5.3 points on 41.1% three-point shooting and 100% free throw accuracy in 30 Euroleague games last season.
Rivers has also played for Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar and Khimki Moscow Region in Russia, Reno of the D-League, Virtus Bologna, Associazione Basket Latina and Benetton Treviso in Italy and Chorale Roanne in France.
