The Denver Nuggets have made a notable addition to their front office, hiring former Denver Post reporter Mike Singer as their new director of intelligence and strategy. The news was first reported by Bennett Durando of the Denver Post.
Singer, who spent five years covering the Nuggets as the team’s beat writer from 2018 to 2023, is also set to release a biography on the franchise’s superstar, Nikola Jokic.
The book, titled “Why So Serious? The Untold Story of NBA Champion Nikola Jokic”, will be published by HarperCollins this fall and promises to delve into the life and career of the reigning NBA Finals MVP.
Before joining the Nuggets, Singer had built an impressive career in sports journalism. In addition to his work at the Denver Post, he previously held the position of national NBA editor at USA Today, where he gained recognition for his in-depth coverage and analysis of the league.
Singer’s transition to a team role follows a growing trend of media figures making the jump to front-office positions within professional sports organizations.
Notable examples include Lee Jenkins, who left Sports Illustrated to join the LA Clippers as the executive director of research and identity, and Royce Young, a former ESPN writer who now works for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Singer’s unique insight into the Nuggets’ organization, combined with his extensive experience covering the NBA, will likely prove valuable in his new role, where he will be tasked with contributing to the team’s long-term strategic planning and decision-making.
