The Houston Rockets may opt to let Jalen Green and fellow extension-eligible player Alperen Şengün enter restricted free agency rather than signing them to extensions this offseason.

By delaying these deals, the Rockets could strategically maintain cap flexibility, creating significant room for potential free-agency moves in the summer of 2025. This approach would allow Houston to explore options for adding key players without being locked into long-term contracts too early.

As for Green, he remains optimistic and hopes the team can build on the positive momentum from their strong finish to last season. His focus is on continued growth and team success, even amid uncertainty about his contract situation.

This suggests that, while contract negotiations loom, Green’s immediate priority is helping the Rockets establish themselves as contenders.

“We went out last season with a bang,” Green said. “We’re all on the same page, know what it takes to win. We know what we can do if we play hard.

“I think we know what we have to do going into this season from the beginning to the end, so hopefully, that leads us into the playoffs.”
