Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young recently shared his thoughts on the NBA guards that he finds hardest to defend against.

Known for his offensive prowess, Young acknowledged that the league is filled with talented players who bring unique challenges.

“There’s a lot of great guards in the league right now,” Young said. He made it clear that there isn’t just one player who stands out, as each guard brings something different to the game.

When asked to pick the top five hardest guards to guard, Young named Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

These five players, according to Young, are among the most difficult to defend due to their versatility and skills.

However, he also made sure to include himself in that category, stating, “I’m in that category if I don’t count myself.”

In addition to those five, Young also mentioned Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić as another challenging opponent.

Young emphasized that the difficulty of defending top guards isn’t limited to superstar players.

He highlighted the fact that even teams at the bottom of the league, such as the Detroit Pistons, have standout guards like Cade Cunningham.

“Even if you think of the worst team, the Pistons, they’ve got Cade Cunningham. He ain’t no slouch,” Young explained.

For Young, facing elite guards is a nightly challenge, no matter who the opponent is.

“It’s tough every night,” he added, underscoring the high level of competition across the league.
