Patrick Beverley recently shared his opinion on why some WNBA announcers seem to dislike Caitlin Clark. On the Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, Beverley addressed the criticism directed at the WNBA Rookie of the Year favorite.

Beverley didn’t mince words, stating that the reason behind the negativity toward Clark is simple: “’Cause she white!” His comment sparked further discussion on the podcast about whether this perception is fair or justified.

Rone, Beverley’s co-host, pointed out that there are other white players in the WNBA who do not face the same level of scrutiny. Beverley acknowledged this but stood by his initial comment, saying, “Agree. You asked me a question, I gave you an answer.”

When asked if the treatment Clark receives is fair, Beverley responded candidly, “No, no it’s not. But that’s the truth.” This exchange highlighted Beverley’s belief that race plays a significant role in the criticism aimed at Clark.

The conversation then shifted to the broader issue of racism. Rone asked Beverley if he thought the negativity toward Clark was rooted in racism. Beverley’s response was measured, “I don’t know,” he said, indicating uncertainty about whether the criticism is explicitly racist.

The discussion also touched on whether white people can experience racism. Beverley affirmed that they can, stating, “Yes, everyone can experience racism. I hope it’s not racism, but it’s the only reason.”
