Golden State Warriors forward Kevon Looney is preparing to add a new dimension to his game by focusing on three-point shooting for the upcoming season.
Looney, known primarily for his rebounding and defensive abilities, has spent the offseason working to expand his offensive skill set.
“I’ve been doing a lot of work,” Looney shared with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio, emphasizing his commitment to improving his game.
The 28-year-old big man revealed that he plans to be more aggressive with his shooting, particularly from beyond the arc.
“I’m going to shoot the ball a lot more,” Looney stated, indicating that his offseason training has been geared towards increasing his range.
He mentioned that shooting more midrange and three-point shots has been a goal of his for years, but now feels it’s time to implement it in games.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has encouraged Looney to develop this aspect of his game, leading to increased confidence in his shooting abilities.
“Steve wanted me to improve in that area,” Looney said, adding that he has been taking a lot of shots and feels positive about the upcoming season.
Throughout his nine-year career with the Warriors, Looney has attempted only 60 three-pointers, converting just 10 of them.
Last season, Looney averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 16.1 minutes per game.
