The Atlanta Hawks have officially signed forward Joey Hauser to a one-year Exhibit 10 contract. Hauser, who made a name for himself with his sharp shooting in the G League, is set to compete for a roster spot with the Hawks this upcoming season.
The 6-foot-9 forward shot an impressive 43.8% from three-point range last season while playing for the Ontario Clippers in the G League.
Despite going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, Hauser has continued to work on his game, making the most of his opportunities in the G League.
Hauser averaged 6.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 21.9 minutes per game with Ontario, showcasing his ability to contribute as a stretch forward. His shooting prowess caught the attention of several NBA teams, leading to this latest opportunity with the Hawks.
Billy Reinhardt was the first to report the signing, tweeting that Hauser’s deal with Atlanta offers him a chance to compete for a place on the Hawks’ roster.
Hauser’s Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed deal that can convert to a two-way contract if he impresses during training camp and preseason.
Before his professional career, Hauser had a solid collegiate stint, first with Marquette and then with Michigan State. He transferred to Michigan State after his freshman year and became a key player for the Spartans, earning recognition for his academic and athletic performances.
Hauser’s journey to the NBA has been anything but straightforward. After going undrafted, he initially signed a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz in July 2023 but was waived in October. He then briefly joined the Los Angeles Clippers before landing in the G League with Ontario.
Now, with the Hawks, Hauser has a fresh opportunity to prove his worth at the NBA level.
