The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent guard Keon Johnson to a multiyear contract.
NBA insider Shams Charania reported the agreement, marking Johnson’s return to the Nets.
Johnson played five games for Brooklyn last season and performed well in the NBA Summer League.
He averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game in the Summer League.
Selected with the 21st pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, Johnson was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
In his rookie year, Johnson appeared in only 15 games for the Clippers.
He was later traded to the Portland Trail Blazers on February 4, 2022.
Johnson played for the Trail Blazers during the 2022 NBA Summer League, helping them win their second Las Vegas Summer League championship.
On March 27, 2023, Johnson tied his career high of 20 points in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Two days later, he suffered a broken finger during practice, sidelining him indefinitely.
Johnson was traded to the Phoenix Suns on September 27, 2023, in a three-team deal involving Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday.
The Suns waived Johnson on October 23 ahead of the 2023–24 regular season.
He signed a two-way contract with the Nets on November 1, 2023.
Now, Johnson has secured a multiyear deal with Brooklyn.
Throughout his NBA career, Johnson has appeared in 82 games. He averages 5.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 14.3 minutes per game.
