Bronny James, the Los Angeles Lakers’ No. 55 pick in the recent NBA Draft, expressed openness to playing in the G League this upcoming season.

Following his debut at the Las Vegas Summer League, where he scored 8 points on 3-of-14 shooting in a loss to the Houston Rockets, James discussed his readiness for any opportunity to develop as a professional basketball player.

Following the game, Bronny emphasized his openness to any assignment that will help him improve as a basketball player.

“I’m just looking forward to any basketball I play — no matter what level I’m playing at,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. He stressed that his focus is on gaining experience and developing his skills.

Lakers summer league coach Dane Johnson, who also coaches the South Bay Lakers, the G League affiliate, commented on the likelihood of draftees spending time in the G League.

“I think all these guys are going to be in the G League at some point — the draftees,” Johnson said.

Johnson emphasized James’ potential for a fruitful career and the ongoing process of building confidence and skills necessary for sustained success in professional basketball.

Bronny James’ journey into the NBA has garnered significant attention due to his family legacy and potential. As he navigates the early stages of his career, including potential stints in the G League, James is focused on maximizing every opportunity to learn and grow as a player.
