Paul Pierce has declared Anthony Edwards the clear leader of Team USA as the Minnesota Timberwolves star enters his second summer with the national team.
Last year, Edwards played a crucial role in helping Team USA secure a fourth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
This summer, Edwards joins forces with superstars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Joel Embiid for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In his Olympic debut during an exhibition game against Team Canada in Las Vegas, Edwards scored 13 points in 19 minutes, helping the Americans to an 86-72 victory.
Pierce praised Edwards’ leadership, stating, “I think the clear leader of this team is Ant Man… On the court… His personality took over the USA team.”
The former NBA star believes Edwards’ energy off the bench was instrumental in turning the game around for Team USA.
Pierce predicted Edwards would become an international star before the Olympics conclude, highlighting his potential to shine on the global stage.
“He’s gonna be an international star before these Olympics is over,” Pierce said on UNDISPUTED.
