Highsmith, 27, garnered significant interest around the league but chose to stay with the franchise that developed him. His agent, Jerry Dianis, confirmed the details to ESPN.
Last season, Highsmith averaged a career-best 20.7 minutes per game. He started 26 games, averaging 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
Highsmith also shot nearly 40 percent from three-point range, demonstrating his offensive capability. His defensive prowess is another key aspect of his game, making him a valuable asset for the Heat.
The two-year deal is fully guaranteed with no options, as per Dianis.
