(Rochester Hills, MI) – The American Basketball Hall of Fame (ABHOF) celebrated its 6th annual induction ceremony on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, this past Sunday. The event honored 21 legends of basketball, bringing the total number of enshrined players, coaches, and contributors to over 100 since its inception in 2019.
This year’s inductees included iconic figures such as Larry Bird, Campy Russell, Dave Bing, and former WNBA star Tamika Randall-Lay. Kenny Sailors, the player credited with inventing the jump shot, was also honored. Esteemed coaches, including LeBron James’ coach Dru Joyce II, Ed McCluskey, Kevin Mackey, and Bobby Huggins, were recognized for their significant contributions to the sport.
Special awards were presented to Len Krichko, who received the Earl Cureton Community Award, and Oakland University’s Coach Greg Kampe, who was named Coach of the Year.
Looking ahead, the ABHOF aims to purchase the old Detroit Pistons practice complex in Auburn Hills, Michigan, to further its mission of celebrating and preserving the legacy of basketball.
