The Toronto Raptors are anticipated to exercise Bruce Brown’s $23 million team option ahead of the upcoming deadline, according to reports.

Marc Stein reported on Substack that the Raptors are deliberating their strategy regarding Brown’s contract, which must be decided by June 28.

Stein noted that several rival teams expect Toronto to retain Brown, viewing his expiring contract as a valuable asset for potential trades.

Brown, who joined the Raptors following a trade deadline deal, played a pivotal role in Denver’s championship run last season.

During his tenure with Toronto this past season, the versatile guard averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game in 26 minutes on the court.

The decision to pick up Brown’s team option aligns with the Raptors’ ongoing efforts to optimize their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

By retaining Brown, Toronto aims to leverage his skills and experience to bolster their lineup or explore trade opportunities to enhance team dynamics.
