The Detroit Pistons former practice facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, MI

Detroit, MI – June 18, 2024 – LaMont “ShowBoat” Robinson, founder and 2019 inductee of the American Basketball Hall of Fame, has identified a promising new venue for celebrating the legacy of basketball. During his recent visit to the former Detroit Pistons practice facility, Robinson expressed strong enthusiasm about the potential of this 60,000 sq. ft. space to house the prestigious American Basketball Hall of Fame.

Since its establishment in 2019, the American Basketball Hall of Fame has become renowned for honoring the sport’s most iconic figures. Notable inductees include legends such as Isaiah Thomas, Dick Vitale, Kobe Bryant, Pete Maravich, and many others. This year, the 2024 induction ceremony will take place on June 30th at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, welcoming new luminaries such as Larry Bird, Dave Bing, Rick Mahorn, Bob Huggins, and additional basketball greats.

The former Detroit Pistons practice facility not only offers ample room for the Hall of Fame itself but also presents opportunities to host AAU tournaments, as well as year-round camps and clinics, further enriching the basketball community.

Robinson has indicated plans to engage in discussions with the city of Auburn Hills in the coming weeks regarding the potential relocation of the American Basketball Hall of Fame to this historic venue. He believes this move will significantly enhance the facility’s legacy and provide a fitting tribute to the sport’s rich heritage.
