Milwaukee Bucks point guard Patrick Beverley has preemptively extended congratulations to his former Los Angeles Clippers teammate JJ Redick amid rumors of Redick landing the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“Congrats @jj_redick big time,” Beverley tweeted, despite no official announcement yet from the Lakers.

Reports indicate that Redick has emerged as the frontrunner for the Lakers’ head coaching position.

The Lakers have been narrowing their search, with Redick and Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego being the primary candidates.

Interviews with several other candidates, including Sam Cassell, Chris Quinn, Micah Nori, and David Adelman, have been conducted by the Lakers.

Lakers officials are reportedly “infatuated” with Redick’s potential and see him as a top choice for the franchise.

Despite his lack of coaching experience, Redick has impressed Lakers officials with his potential as a coach.
